High-Tech Bathroom Design Ideas For 2019
The bathroom used to be the place where electronics were banned; but eventually the smart home movement invaded our bathroom designs. Within the past few years, homeowners have started to embrace bathroom technology to make their morning rituals more efficient and comfortable. And it’s easy to see why people have welcomed this change – from self-cleaning toilets to shower sound systems to heated floors; bathroom designs have evolved into a relaxing spa-like space, a feeling that was previously unattainable at home.
Here are a few of our favorite gadgets to incorporate into your bathroom remodel that will definitely transform your daily bathroom experience!
High-Tech Toilets
Yes, there really are smart toilets. And, yes, they’re pretty cool. TOTO created the ultimate toilet in terms of luxury. It features different flush options, an automatic lid, adjustable temperature controls, a self cleaning bowl, an automatic air deodorizer, and a nightlight. There’s almost nothing this toilet can’t do!
If the TOTO toilet seems a bit too high-tech for you, there are other techy alternatives for your bathroom design, like a toilet with a motion sensor flush. However, unlike the ones in public restrooms, this sensor is strategically placed so it won’t flush until you’re ready.
Showers & Tubs
There’s nothing better after a tough workout or a long day than a nice, hot shower. Let technology take your shower to the next level. Consider installing an in-home steam room as part of a bathroom renovation. This luxurious addition is the perfect space to let your muscles melt and your mind calm down.
If you’re looking for something truly unique to add to your bathroom design, look no further than a chromotherapy bathtub or shower. Chromotherapy is the use of colored lights to balance a person’s physical, emotional, spiritual or mental energy levels. Many claim chromotherapy is pseudoscience, but either way, a light show in your bathroom is pretty fabulous.
Our final favorite shower enhancement is a digital temperature controller. You can pre-set your ideal temperature and pressure level, and some can be activated using a remote control or your smart phone.
Bathroom Speakers
We all sing in the shower, why not add speakers so you can listen to your favorite tunes. Kohler makes several showerhead speakers that will sync with any Bluetooth device and stream your favorite playlists, podcasts, and news programs directly into the shower. If you want to keep up the dance party while you get ready, many bathroom fans now come with Bluetooth speakers as well.
TVs
If you love to watch the news or binge your favorite Netflix series while you are getting ready, then a television may be a key addition to your bathroom remodel. Be aware that bathroom TVs are subject to moisture buildup and a lot more damage over time than in any other room. With that being said, be sure to select a waterproof or outdoor TV – one that is designed to withstand wet surroundings. Some models even have built-in fog resistance, which is best for the person who loves long steamy showers.
Warming Options
Imagine stepping out of the shower on a cold morning and not freezing when your feet touch the floor. Yes, it’s really a possibility! Under floor heating can be used with a variety of flooring options, including hardwood, concrete, tile, and vinyl. When the temperatures drop, you’ll be glad that your once-icy bathroom tile has been transformed into a soothing warm floor.
If you’re often cold when you hop out of the shower, you may want to add a radiator towel warmer or a even a warming drawer in your bathroom cabinetry. This will ensure your towels are always toasty warm when you step out of the shower or bath!
